He was the husband of Catherine E. Brillhart Gruver.

Mr. Gruver was retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, where he was employed for 25 years. He was also a retired farmer. He and his wife operated a stand in York's Central Market for the past 65 years.

He was a member of Paradise ‎(Holtzschwamm)‎ Lutheran Church.

Mr. Gruver was born in Jackson Township, the son of the late Peter and Annie Reymer Gruver.

Survivors include:
Six sons - Elmer E. Gruver, Manchester RD 2; Ralph E. Gruver, 3061 Ruppert Road; Carl D. Gruver, Abbottstown RD 1; and Charles M. Gruver, at home.

Four daughters - Helen C. Schroll and Annie C. Myer, both of Spring Grove RD 4; Ethel L. Mummert, Spring Grove RD 3; and Dorothy E. Hoffhins, Abbottstown RD 1.

A sister - Sarah Moul, The Brethren Home, Cross Keys.

Nineteen grandchildren.

Three great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be Wednesay evening at the Fred M. Sauter Funeral Home, 306 Harrisburg St., East Berlin.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Paradise ‎(Holtzschwamm)‎ Lutheran Church. The Rev. Larry A. McConnell, his pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Paradise Union Cemetery.
